Extended Background information
Originally from Philadelphia, PA, by way of Atlantic City, NJ and a suburb city of Atlanta, GA; Ida Marie Collins, relocated to Las Vegas, NV from Lancaster, SC in 2006. During her search for culture and community, she was first introduced to spoken word by two local poets, Bliss and LaBlaque. She was then invited to the West Las Vegas Arts Center. Known then as Ms. Peaches, she began reciting her poetry at The Poet’s Corner, the longest running monthly poetry venue in Las Vegas, founded by Keith Brantley. She received encouragement and mentoring from director, actress, and fellow poet, Ms. China. She experienced a culturally aware community and a spiritual awakening began. Ms. Peaches found a new identity, and began using the name SOLID, which stands for Socially Organizing Literally Inspiring Desire. She began appearing all over the Las Vegas Valley at open mics, poetry readings, and networking events. One of SOLID’s first encounters with the theater was a dramatic play reading of For Colored Girls Who Have Considered Suicide When the Rainbow Is Enuf by Ntozake Shange, directed by Marisa Townsend in 2008. SOLID has appeared in a stage production of the Bluest Eye based on the book by Toni Morrison, directed by Robert Connor at the West Las Vegas Theater in September of 2009. Other stage plays have included Moving Past the Past (2011), based on a book, written by Trish Geran, about the history of African Americans in early Las Vegas. SOLID also played the role of Georgia in the original inspirational play entitled Mendacity: Lies Left Unspoken by Tabia Mawusi (2010).

During 2011-2012, SOLID hosted and produced a popular weekly variety showcase, Poetry in Motion at the Mayan Club in Las Vegas, NV that gave local and national artists a platform to showcase their talents in sin city. Her online radio shows, “Speak Yo Mind” and “On SOLID Ground” were quite popular with independent artists and poets around from the world. SOLID Truth will now be part of the brand new One Positive Way online radio network on Blog Talk Radio. SOLID Truth has recently joined the panel for the all new Black American History Network and DuJoir Films. Her focus will be on research, voiceovers and narration. Look out for her one woman show “I am SOLID’ to debut in Las Vegas. A portion of the proceeds will benefit SAFE House of Nevada, a women’s domestic violence and abuse shelter. http://www.safehousenv.org/
SOLID works with several non-profit organizations in the Los Angeles and Las Vegas areas and is a strong supporter of women’s empowerment and equal rights for all. She helps to counsel victims of domestic violence and volunteers for underprivileged children in the community. SOLID has also worked with the Inglewood Peacemakers, a non-profit organization in the Los Angeles area that specializes in gang prevention and intervention. Because she moved around so much, she has met a lot of different people from all over the world. She had a chance to revisit the areas in Lancaster County, SC where she went to high school. SOLID attended Clemson University where she studied Computer Engineering and Graphics Communication. She also attended York Technical College, where she maintained a 4.0 GPA in Computer Technology. Claude Barnett formerly of Next Movement and Lamar LeWarren, Jus Voice (the late Tyrone Fowler of Gary, IN), Steven S Five Johnson, formerly with KRS1 and the Temple of Hip Hop, and Forrest Wilson III, formerly of the Drifters, are just a few of the artists SOLID has worked with in the past and plans to produce music with in the near future.
SOLID Truth apologizes often for repeatedly getting sidetracked with her volunteer duties and writing projects. Her purpose is to educate and enlighten others as well as learn all she can from the Universe. She says “I used to hate my environment, but after learning to take only the positive from each place I live or visit, I realized that we should all try to see past our differences and embrace our similarities so we can expand our minds. Until we do, we are ignorant of the knowledge the other person has to offer us. We can all learn something from each other. I like to keep it real but I often find that people can’t take the REAL me. Oh well….that’s Life. Don’t hate….appreciate. We all have a purpose in LIFE. We are ALL connected somehow, our purpose it to find out HOW and WHY? That is the true meaning of LIFE!”
SOLID Truth believes that her divine purpose is to help heal old wounds and open new eyes and minds to a more positive perspective by spreading PEACE and LOVE, ensuring that we ALL have the power to inspire, empower, and enlighten others through the use of positively spoken words. She looks forward to speaking with you in detail in regards to your plans for the future. Build your goals and dreams on a SOLID foundation.
encourages you to stay positive, focused, and motivated.
